Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections have become increasingly popular over the years. Many people seek these injections to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on their face. The popularity of anti-wrinkle injections can be attributed to the fact that they are relatively non-invasive and provide quick results compared to other cosmetic procedures.

Our anti-wrinkle treatments consist of a naturally occurring protein that causes the muscles of the face to relax. The result? Your wrinkles are smoother and your lines are softer. These injections are most commonly used in the forehead and corners of the eyes (crow’s feet).

Effectiveness of Anti-Wrinkle Injections.

You can expect the results to last between two and six months depending on your body’s metabolic system and the product that is used. It normally only takes a few minutes to administer the anti-wrinkle injections and, as the needles used are very fine, it is not usually painful. The treatments are equally effective for men and women and many see them as a convenient way to address signs of aging without undergoing surgery.

What areas can be treated?

  • Forehead wrinkles.
  • Crow’s Feet.
  • Marionette lines & corners of the mouth.
  • Smoker’s lines.
  • Sagging Brows.
  • Gummy Smile – This is overexposure of the upper teeth and gums when smiling.
  • Hyperhidrosis – Excessive Sweating.
  • Backs of the Hands – Reduces the wrinkles.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections for Men

Men from every background complain about how they look whilst ageing. Some want to slow down the process completely, and keep that strength in their jawline or around their eyes.

Because these injections are effective for stress (frown) lines, it is a popular treatment with many businessmen who want to look more refreshed and approachable.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections are significantly different from the injections used on women. A man’s basic facial anatomy is very different from a woman’s, and men have specific muscle mass and muscle fibre patterns.

During your first consultation with one of our doctors, you will be advised on the results we would expect to see for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Natalia Bratu will be taking care of you. This treatment only takes about 15 minutes and any noticeable marks usually dissipate in minutes so nobody will be any the wiser that you have had the procedure.

A small number of people are not suitable for treatment. This can be down to pre-existing medical conditions, your lifestyle, and your current physical condition.

At your consultation, the doctor may deem you unsuitable for treatment. In Refine Clinic we do not pressure our clients to go ahead with any treatment until they are ready so there is no problem if you decide to come back another day and take time to consider your treatment options.

That is no problem at all. Dr. Natalia will take her time with you. She will go through the treatment and do her absolute best to reassure you. If at any point you decide not to have treatment that is also no problem.

Before your treatment, a cool gel pack can be held to the skin to numb the area. Numbing cream is available also but is rarely used as the injections are so quick, like a little pinch. Some patients who bruise easily may find that they may have a slight small bruise e.g. near the sensitive eye area, post-treatment.

Arnica cream is a fantastic healer for bruises and speeds up the recovery time for any bruising.

Some people may have a fear of needles but still would like treatment. If you make us aware of this we can be mindful of this and look after you.

A contraindication is a specific situation in which a drug, procedure, or surgery should not be used because it may be harmful to the person.

You may not get anti-wrinkle injections if you

– Are pregnant

– Are breastfeeding

– Have muscular/neurology diseases/disorders

– Are taking antibiotics

– Are a heavy drinker of alcohol

– Under 18 years of age

As with any injectable product, there may be side effects in some patients. Do not worry when you read the list of side effects, you may not experience any of these.

Side effects usually occur within the first few days of injection and are generally temporary, although some side effects may continue for several months, or longer in some rare cases.

The most common side effects are headache, drooping of the eyelid, skin redness, local muscle weakness and facial pain.

Other side effects may be associated with the injection itself including: bruising, redness, pain, burning, stinging and/or swelling.

Adverse reactions possibly related to the spread of the prescribed treatment distant from the injection sites have been reported very rarely with these injections. (e.g. muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing or pneumonia due to unwanted food or liquid in the airways).
